Independent to most women can mean not having a 'superhero' behind her back waiting to catch her when she falls, Independent to some people can also mean living on your own, on your own paycheck with no help from boyfriends, parents nor friends. But independent, like you said, can also mean doing everything by yourself but that doesn't necessarily mean EVERYTHING. It could mean taking care of yourself alone, living on your own income, etc. ^^
I like it! But... In a world that provides anything, thinking that you can do anything alone (independent), is something that I could never understand.
